Philosophy and Comments

●PILATES●

Pilates is a series of exercises which has proven to be a very effective technique for conditioning the body / mind. The equipment employed (Reformer, Cadillac, and Wunda Chair) is a system of tensioned springs which provide a uniform, progressive resistance training that has a low impact on the sensitive joints. By working muscle systems, one can gain strength, body control, increase tone and flexibility, improve coordination and posture, as well as systemic healing for injuries and sports rehabilitation. A fitness workout on the Pilates machines can energize before or after a long day at work, be a great stress reducer, and aid in a wide variety of rehabilitation efforts.

●FELDENKRAIS®●

Feldenkrais® is a gentle, guided movement technique that combines physics, anatomy, psychology, biology, and principles from judo. It is a "re-learning" process that gets to the root of movement patterns stored in the body. Feldenkrais® can resolve chronic or habitual pain and facilitate healing from injury. While lying or sitting comfortably, a series of instructive movements help relax tense areas, alter habitual patterns, and provide new movement options. The instructions are communicated through slow, gentle touch and verbal cues. Most people experience a profound sense of deep relaxation, coupled with a sense of freedom of movement that can restore a sense of ease, comfort, and increased range of motion in the body. Feldenkrais® has been used extensively with conditions such as fibromyalgia, back, neck, and knee pain, strokes, chronic pain, developmental disorders in children, and enhancing athletic performance.

Golf Improvement and Fitness Program

The Swing-ease Method™ for Golf offers golfers an exciting new way to improve their game and decrease pain. The Swing-ease Program™ teaches a more repeatable swing by:

Feldenkrais for Children with Cerebral Palsy & Other Related Brain Disorders

Everyone’s goal is to help the child gain function in movement,thought,
perception and feeling. The Feldenkrais Method® enhances the recovery of
function in children with cerebral palsy and other brain related disorders
well beyond the current norm.

It is important to remember that it is the brain that controls movement and the
quality of its organization. Spasticity and limitations in the musculature and
skeleton are a manifestation of the workings of the brain. In the Feldenkrais
Method®, we use movement and touch to communicate with the brain in ways
that allow it to decipher how to organize movement effectively.
With it comes immediate muscular, skeletal and oftentimes mental
and emotional improvement.

The gentleness with which the guiding movements are done and the insistence on
having the child move in ways that feel easy and are not beyond the child’s
true ability, creates a sense of safety for the child. This allows the child
to feel him/her self and become aware of what he/she is doing and what is
being done to him/her. As a result they become active, intelligent, happy
learners just the way healthy children are. Once a child accomplishes a
milestone, it continues to generate a great variety of small and large
movements from which the next milestone will be carved.
